Coldplay - A Film For The Future

Not To Scale produced 11 pieces of media to accompany the release of Coldplay’s latest album, Moon Music.

Liaising with the project’s commissioner at Parlophone Records, we curated a list of artists from our roster and elsewhere that we were itching to work with. The brief was incredibly open, with each collaborator encouraged to be as creatively free and expressive as possible in their process. The only thing that was prescribed about each film was a segment of a song from the record. Each track was broken down into clips ranging from 6 to 22 seconds and shared with talent across the world to provide imagery for every moment, compiling a colossal visual feast.

Represented in the output from Not To Scale is artistry from Berlin, Hanoi, Santiago, London, Shanghai, Hamburg and Kyiv. From an astonishingly broad range of creative backgrounds, the makers we worked with applied their myriad knowledge with gusto. The result is an mind-bending array of styles and techniques spanning 2D cel animation, 8-bit, AI animation and found footage mixed media, as each artist responded to the audio clip (or clips) allotted to them from the band’s new release.
