Director

Sam Southward

Sam Southward is a BAFTA nominated director and writer hailing from idyllic South London. After surviving an eventful upbringing in Lewisham, Sam was left with many stories to tell, as well as a flair for comedy and a passion for the absurd- in turn making him naturally drawn to the fast-paced and vibrant world of film and animation. Humour and social commentary are common themes in Sam's work, as he tackles poignant subject matter, whilst delivering side-splitting laughs. He is best known for his distinct and hilariously written characters, along with his ability to combine both live action and CG techniques.

Described in his own words, Sam’s films are "all about story, character and humour. I love the pure escapism of world building and getting lost in all of the detail, it’s the closest thing you can get to magic without a pointy hat and a beard."

Sam is currently working on his first full live action short film- a cautionary tale about a friendship that transcends the laws of physics.
